Ros Taylor to speak at the Tony Cowling Foundation Annual Event 2025

Trust in Crisis: Why It Matters Now More Than Ever

This year's event focuses on exploring the theme of Truth and Trust in international commerce and global societies.

In an age where misinformation spreads in seconds and digital deception is on the rise, trust has become one of society’s most fragile currencies. We’re delighted to announce that Ros Taylor, journalist, author, and host of the acclaimed Oh God, What Now? and More Jam Tomorrow podcasts, will be joining us as a speaker at this year’s Tony Cowling Foundation Annual Event.

Drawing from her 2024 book The Future of Trust, Ros will explore the psychological and social undercurrents behind today’s trust crisis, and what the explosion in online scams reveals about our instinct to believe others, even when it hurts us.

Her talk will explore:

  • Why trust remains essential to functioning societies and economies

  • How public institutions (especially governments) have lost public trust as far back as the financial crash of 2008

  • Why business, once a relatively trusted sector, is now facing greater scrutiny (as shown in recent Edelman Trust Barometer findings)

  • The heightened risks of deploying AI in a low-trust environment

  • And crucially, how organisations can begin to rebuild trust through simplicity, transparency, and humanity

With a career spanning the BBC, The Guardian and the LSE, Ros brings a sharp lens to one of the defining issues of our time.
